A Delicious Revolution
I was in Washington D.C. last week for this amazing event that I am very proud to be part of.
Sips & Suppers is an annual fundraiser for the two largest soup kitchens in the U.S. The benefit raises money for DC Central Kitchen and Martha's Table's grocery program, which brings food to the homeless and four D.C. elementary schools and their families. These are two terrific resources for the homeless and for those seeking to give back to their community. DC Central Kitchen offers culinary job training where trainees volunteer in the main kitchen, helping to prepare the 5,000 meals which are delivered to 100 other homeless shelters, halfway houses, and other nonprofits across Washington, D.C. It is an honor the learn about these beacons for helping those in need and to be a part of it.
Gina Stanley of the Art Cliff Diner, Doug Singer and I were the chefs for Joan Nathan's birthday dinner at the home of Hank and Carol Goldberg.
