Suzanne The Cow Photograph: There is a cow on Boston Common...______________________________________________________Monday, May 10, 2010:Crying Over Spilled Milk: MA Ag Bureaucrat in Desperate Maneuvers, by David Gumpert Having Raw Milk available is a right for all citizens of Massachusetts.The raw milk battle continues on.The milk buying clubs (which bring raw milk to the co-ops) are still under fire!The Friday MDAR statement re-committed MDAR to putting the buying clubs out of business.It views the buying clubs as "Milk Dealers", and according to the Friday release: "A Milk Dealer is defined within the Milk Control Laws as anyone in the business of receiving, purchasing, pasteurizing, bottling, processing, distributing or otherwise handling milk. This is still the case, and MDAR will take such steps to enforce violations as they become aware of them."The MDAR only took the proposed regulation “off the table” for Monday ONLY, (what about on Tuesday?). This means nothing. They are pretending to back off so that people will not come to the rally. MDAR is trying to trying to stop the event and make people believe that the issue has been resolved. We want MDAR to go back to the situation prior to January. 2010, when MDAR started sending out cease-and-desist letters to the buying clubs. No new laws, no new regulations, no nothing. Just leave the buying clubs alone and let MA consumers buy their raw milk.The only language MDAR will understand is lots of people saying we mean BUYER’S CLUB business. That's why it's more important than ever that people show up--to show they can't get away with last-minute press releases to diffuse opposition. The message to MDAR: Take our right to eat the food we want to eat, SERIOUSLY!
